Photonics Engineering Intern (PhD) - 2026

PsiQuantum is building the world's first useful, fault-tolerant quantum computer using silicon photonics. We are hiring a PhD Photonics Engineering Intern in Palo Alto for Summer 2026. You will work with the integrated photonics team on design, simulation, and characterization of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) including single-photon sources, waveguides, couplers, and detectors. Projects may include component-level characterization, test automation, yield analysis, or novel device design. Qualifications: currently enrolled in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Optics, or related field; hands-on experience with silicon photonics, III-V photonics, or integrated optical components; familiarity with Lumerical, Ansys, or similar simulation tools; Python proficiency. US work authorization required.
