Software Engineering Intern - Database Kernel

Neon is hiring Summer 2026 Software Engineering Interns to work on the open-source serverless Postgres platform. The Database Kernel team owns the core storage engine (Pageserver, Safekeeper) written in Rust, plus Postgres fork modifications in C. Intern projects have included optimizing compaction throughput, building observability tooling for the storage layer, and contributing to the copy-on-write branching implementation. Ideal candidates are MS/PhD students (or strong undergrads) with systems programming experience in Rust or C, familiarity with database internals, and a passion for storage systems. Remote within US/EU; paid.
