Software Engineer Intern - Distributed SQL

Cockroach Labs is hiring Summer 2026 Software Engineer Interns to work on CockroachDB, the distributed SQL database used by companies like Netflix, DoorDash, and the US DoD. Interns will be matched to a SQL, KV, or Cloud team and own a meaningful project over 12 weeks. Past projects have included optimizing the SQL optimizer's cost model, adding new observability to the KV storage layer, and shipping features for CockroachDB Serverless. Candidates should be proficient in Go and have exposure to distributed systems or databases coursework. The program is hybrid from our NYC office and includes dedicated mentorship, weekly tech talks, and a final project presentation.
