Threat Research Intern - Summer 2026

Proofpoint's Threat Research team is hiring an intern for Summer 2026 to investigate advanced email threats, BEC campaigns, and nation-state phishing operations. You will contribute to tracking actor clusters such as TA453, TA505, and TA577; write detection content for our Emerging Threats Suricata rules; triage sandbox detonations; and help publish quarterly threat landscape reports read across the industry. Qualifications: pursuing a BS/MS in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field; understanding of email protocols (SMTP, SPF, DKIM, DMARC); Python scripting fluency; familiarity with reverse engineering tools and malware analysis sandboxes; prior CTF or threat research experience strongly preferred.
